Author Spotlight: Rose Johnson

AH4_0103This week, I’m honored to feature Rose Johnson, author of God, Me, and Sweet Ice Tea. In addition to writing, she currently teaches English and French. She’s learned, through many disappointments and overwhelming obstacles, to find God in the midst of everyday moments. She writes to share her faith, and to teach others how they can find God in the middle of their busy lives as well.

AG: Tell us a bit about yourself. How long have you been writing? What types of writing do you do?

RJ: I wrote in the late 70s and 80s, had some poems and articles published, but didn’t write for close to twenty years after. Yes, I know I’m dating myself. My life became very busy during that time. I raised six kids as a single parent, and I was a teacher and student at the same time. Writing took a backseat until 2008. I began writing again that year, almost daily, and I’ve been writing ever since.

AG: Why did you decide to become a writer?

RJ: Writers write because they have a passion to write. I always enjoyed it very much. I was a fan of the classics growing up, and very studious. I decided to get a degree in English literature and French and bide my time until I could write a great novel. That’s what I thought as a college student.

AG: What is one piece of writing advice you wish you’d had at the beginning of your writing career?

RJ: Write every day.

Cover of Sweet TEaAG: What are you currently working on? Any special projects in the works?

RJ: I’m working on two major projects: a novel, which has been like a neglected pet, and a non-fiction book. I think of the non-fiction as a priority because it’s an overflow of what the Lord has done in my life and what He continues to reveal to me about Himself.

AG: What do you have coming out next? What do your fans have to look forward to?

RJ: In addition to the novel and non-fiction book, I continue to write devotions every week for my blog and other publications. I’m looking forward to see God’s timing in all of this. In the meantime, I want to be faithful to write everyday what God puts on my heart.

AG: How can my readers find out more about you and your work?

RJ: I really appreciate it when readers connect with me on the social media sites. I love hearing testimonials about God, Me, and Sweet Iced Tea. My blog offers lots of encouragement and monthly book giveaways from Christian authors. You can find my blog at Or connect with me on Twitter (@rechanojo), Pinterest, Facebook, and Goodreads
